text-indent: 0.5in;">I have lots of my life experiences to tell and got my own interpretations, but I just noticed, that my interpretation is always consistent for being inconsistent. The meanings of my significant experiences are continuously changing as my life goes on. I think seeking the meaning of life is gonna be a lifelong process, and its fulfilled meaning will be only found when the time comes of experiencing our very own death. But what makes me wonder, that this simple gift called “Wisdom” had gave my “Life experience” go beyond to what my consciousness dictates. Actually the moment I decided to join in the blog contest sponsored by Goldilocks about the biggest change in my life to be entitled: “Pagbabago”, I found myself seeing a “scarred soul” communicating directly to myself, listening to what I am not saying while my heart starting to translate these unspoken words as my very own words… and that is what I think called “reflection.” Now I see, how difficult to do this blog as I need not only to tell my life stories but rather letting my soul talking.

September 8, 2008- Birthday of Mama Mary (if I’m not mistaken hehehe), I had my most unforgettable experience. My mom was rushed to the Hospital because of dizziness and slurring of words. I wasn’t worried for her condition coz I believe that she just had high blood pressure which I suspect “180-over-acting.” But it was no joke when we found her in the Hospital almost dying from stroke, Yes it was the underestimated stroke that almost killed or might paralyzed my mom if not addressed seriously. The doctor told us to look for another hospital co’z they can’t accommodate patient with that condition. It was twelve midnight, had heavy rain outside; the flood still not subsided, no vehicles passing through on our way, my phone was left in the house, and damn! What a dramatic scene that I just got only 200 pesos in my pocket. I’m waiting someone will shout “Cut!” maybe from the Director of this freaking drama. But God remained mute from all the shouts of my soul asking for help. I even ask the help of Mary Help of Christians which I realized it was redundant. Fast forward the scenes, we’re inside the taxi looking for hospitals, when my Mom spoke once again, but this time I never heard words about her headache but this time words of goodbyes and farewell. She’s in tears telling me she can’t stand it anymore, she asked me to help and support my older brother’s family until they become stable and to guide my younger sister to become independent. I was about to answer her when the driver stopped and says “Andito na tayo!”. Holy Crap! That’s Manila Doctors Hospital! I was impressed by the driver’s estimation of our financial capacity, to think that I got only 200 pesos, enough to pay our taxi’s fare, and yet the driver managed to intensify my worries. I was forced to push the wheelchair entering to the emergency room and talk to the nurse. They told me that they don’t accept “transferee patient” even if endorsed by the previous doctor who did preliminary examination. I was shocked from that statement that I was about to explode, but the only word that emitted from my mouth was the word “Bullshit!” (Sorry for the word) Blimey! I got the attention of all people in the emergency room, and a beautiful nurse came into rush and get me an admission form to fill.

Should I interpret the immediate meaning of this experience? Should I need to find God from every detail of that experience? My answer will not found in the direct contact of the situations I told you, but rather be found in condition of my “anguishing soul” during that time. Yes I was praying to the intercession of all the saints I known in heaven, My soul even cry more than a decade of rosary while seeing my mother in deep pain, I was telling the holy men and women that God is enjoying this guessing game which I really hate in my whole life. During that time I was about to explode not because of being pissed off but rather my soul is overwhelmed with hopelessness. My wisdom wasn’t able to mediate during that time to heal some questions keep on stubbing my very own being. I sat down near to my mom as I saw her hand with a rosary. Damn! She managed to pray from both spiritual and physical pain. I realized that I was not the only soul who agonizes, my mom did also, and other people inside the emergency room had the same feeling. It was 3:00 A.M. when I saw my mom sleeping at ease together with other patients. I found everyone was at peace. I opened my mom’s bag, and saw a Goldilocks Cheesy Ensaymada, I just realized that I did not took dinner, It was a God’s sign for me that He is really caring for me, I was teary on eating the ensaymada of my mom (Which supposedly her provision in her work). On that moment, the simple bread of Ensaymada changed my life perspective on pain and suffering, I never thought that this Ensaymada can be a channel of grace to change myself (Thanks to Goldilocks). I went outside the Hospital to breathe some air, the rain already stopped, everything was quiet, the battle within my soul subsided and it validates that everything was perfectly under control. I was a child with little faith asking God for help. I missed to trust Him that he is in control of everything. It was ironic that a still small voice telling me: “don’t be afraid everything is under my control.” I’m not sure if I got the right meaning for this experience, but I am assured that something new had born within from this painful experience. I just need to nurture this little seed that somehow will be strong as I grow. In order for me to know Him better I should keep in touch …with my very soul… with our relationship… and to this little seed called: faith… Right now, I always visit the Goldilocks branch in Tutuban and I noticed that it change as time goes by, but there is one thing has never change, Its meaning and purpose in my Life. Thanks Goldilocks for being part of my journey.

Jaypee M. But for me, all of these activities could be summarized in the context of an immersion camp. And that is Salesian Lay Volunteer Philippines’s (SLVP) bABBAd ’09. The SLVP, headed by Fr. Ramon Borja S.D.B. and Ms. Reggie Medalla as the Executive Officer, together with other volunteers, decided that bABBAd ’09 would be held at Brgy. Mabato, Calamba City Laguna, one of the upland communities that belong to the Parish of Mary Help of Christians, Mayapa. Brgy. Mabato is known for its coffee beans and breathe taking scenery.

May 16, 2009, at around 5:00 pm, right after our overnight pre-camp at Don Bosco Canlubang, we traveled for an hour and a half to reach our immersion site. It was already getting dark and our foster parents were still not in the Baranggay Chapel. So, the 2 S.K. kagawads decided to take us to our foster homes. The way to our foster homes already became a challenge for us. The rough and steep road, slowly enveloped by darkness, made it difficult for us to see our footholds. It took us about 30 minutes walk from the Baranggay Chapel to our foster home. Halfway through our strides, I, together with my buddy Gabby, a graduate of Don Bosco Sta. Cruz, met our foster mother, Mrs. Tonet Laurel and her only child, Emmanuel. She approached us with a smile and led us to their home. While she was leading us to their home, she immediately introduced herself and her son, and we started getting acquainted with each other.

At last, we reached our foster home! The Barking of their dogs echoed and Nanay Tonet rushed forward for us to safely enter their home. As I sat down on their sofa, I realized how tiring that 30minutes was. Tired and hungry, Nanay Tonet prepared a squash soup with galunggong for our first dinner together. The squash soup tasted fresher compared to the squash soup from the city. One can savor the flavor very well in their cuisine, even if Nanay didn’t use MSG. After eating dinner, my partner and I decided to wash the dishes. But we have to conserve the water very well because they have no faucet. Their primary water source is the rain, while, they have to go down a steep hill to for drinking water. My foster father came late at night because he got stuck a bit in a Bingo game. He shared a number of funny stories that night; making us feel very welcome in their home.

After our light talk, it is time to sleep. They provided a mosquito net, a blanket and a covered pillow for each of us. Both beddings smell newly bought. That night, I felt not just the Filipino hospitality, but the warm welcome of having acknowledged us as one, or two, of their family members.

The next morning I woke up to the cock’s crow, with the cool breeze still rushing through my veins, giving me Goosebumps. This was my very first time to see my surroundings, since we arrived dark the other day. I lived in a 2 storey, cement founded house with a window made of “capiz” in the front and right sides. It was then that I realized that it was only our foster home that stood within the area. That morning, I tasted their home made brewed coffee, with beans fresh from their backyard that serves as their small coffee plantation.

In the following days, I was able to get used to their way of living such as long distance walks, somehow I was able to chop wood, the tiring up and down hill walks just to take a bath and fetch drinking water. All these and many simple things made me be one of with the community, and a brother and friend to my fellow ka-bABBAds. We became one with the community because every time we passed by somebody, they would not hesitate to give us a smile, a smile which signifies that we are very much welcome in their place; a place not just for an immersion, but a place where you can return to every time you want to… a HOME.

It was definitely sad that the 5 days of being with them has gone through very quickly. But it the time has come for us to process ourselves as to what learning we have acquired during the 5 days of stay with the community of Brgy. Mabato. The processing took place at Bulabod, Puerto Galera, in a private beach resort with a mesmerizing view of the sea and sky, a perfect way for us to recollect our experiences of Baranggay Mabato.

To sum it up, bABBAd ’09 made me realize how generous and hospitable Filipinos are. We share with the ones we acknowledge as friends and family, and sacrifice for the ones we love. For 5 days we were able to become part of the community who have shared and sacrificed much for us. That sacrificial love, expressed in the daily lives of the people of Baranggay Mabato has captured my heart, not as an immersionist, but as a fellow Christian, whose goal in immersing with a community is to be in deeper communion with Abba, our Father and Creator.

Jeudiel S. I was very excited. In this camp, I met new friends, learned new things, and discovered something amazing. I never thought I could change in a week. I must say last April 24 to 29, 2009 were the best days of my summer.

I got the hype built up the night before we left for Mindoro. I couldn’t sleep. Once we were on the bus, the RORO, and on the road again anticipation increased. At the first day when we arrived at St. John Bosco Camp, we were given a challenge right away. All of us were surprised. But it’s a good move that the so called “Amazing Race” really made us closer to each other. Especially when I had an injury, all of my teammates worried about my condition. However, we still managed to finish the whole race.

The sessions we had were very intense. The lessons that they taught struck me. It touched my heart and my soul with every activity we had. We had an immersion. Each group has an assigned family to visit. I was moved by the story of Nanay Helen and her family. They have a simple lifestyle but as far as what I have seen they are happy. I wish I could have that life – a simple yet contented life.

The first two days were handled by the SCYM staff. So at the third night, we put on a little presentation for them. This is our small way of saying our thanks to Kuya Sandy, Kuya Dondie, Kuya Jeff, Ate Janette, Ate Dinvah, and Bro. Raymond, for sharing great lessons and wonderful words to inspire us to continue working on our book and in living our lives.

The next days were handled by Fr. Richie, where we had beautiful sessions and masses with him. On the dawn of the third day, we were all assigned into different groups. It’s hard to walk through the dark with our eyes blindfolded. Some of us grew afraid because they didn’t know what to expect. But I did not feel scared, for I know something good will happen. They made us sit on the sand and asked us to take off our blindfolds. What a relief! We waited for the beautiful sun to rise. Before our mass on the beach, some of us had confession. It was the most beautiful mass we ever had, with scenery like that, it will be unforgettable.

The next hours were spent sharing. As the hours passed, we finally came to the fun part of the day . . . Swimming! Everyone felt refreshed, dipping down the cool waters of Mindoro.

On the fourth day, we did more sharing and finally started constructing our stories for the book. It was hard to make stories and illustrations right away, especially when time is your enemy. The mentors didn’t like what we have in mind about our stories, so we kept on changing our concepts. The night, we had a healing mass, we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit coming to us and that made us a lot better. All we needed was Divine inspiration.

The fifth day came; we didn’t have any sleep at all because we had to finish our stories before we go home. Leaving Bansud was the saddest part. I came here with great expectations, and I was overwhelmed with the things that occurred in just a week. Before leaving the camp Fr. Richie gave us a seed of a plant. Maybe someday when we can get a chance to go back, and there, we will see the plant that blooming with beautiful flowers from a seed that we planted.

Before, I was a complete stranger to these people. But as the days went by, sessions got deeper, paper and ink were used more, the bond got richer, and of course our relationship with God became greater, I am now surrounded with people whom now I trust and know so well. It’s like we have stayed at Bansud for years. I must say God has a funny way of bringing us all closer together. Through the ups and downs of this camp, I have developed a friendship that I will surely treasure and a very special relationship with God. It is truly worth saying that, “This is the best summer of my life!”

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> Taking the role as resource persons were our Provincial, Fr. Mesa, DB Sta. Cruz and Don Bosco Tondo. The presence of Salesian priests was also noted beginning with our Rector, Fr. Anthony Paul Bicomong, SDB, Fr. Mon Borja, SDB, Fr. Kim Simbulan, SDB, Fr. Duds Hila, SDB, Fr. Gaudencio Carandang, SDB, Fr. Jay David, SDB, Fr. Roger Tamares, SDB, Fr. Ike Veloso, SDB, Fr. Marty Macasaet, SDB and his students in Religious Masteral studies from the Grade School Faculty of Don Bosco- Makati City).

To begin the event, Bro. Mon Callo, SDB, the newly appointed Salesian in-charge of the Commission on Youth Ministry rendered the Opening Remarks. His message reminded us of St. John Bosco who gave so much importance to the rights of the young, especially the poor. After the message, the seminarians and some chosen students of DB College - Canlubang led us into a meaningful Prayer.

The first speaker, Fr. Eli Cruz, SDB, our Provincial, stressed on the strenna of 2008 – that of educating the young especially the poorest and the most disadvantaged, with the heart of Don Bosco, in order to develop their full potentials and to promote their rights. His creativity in presenting his thoughts and ideas through slide presentations brought us to mind that the young people like young Bosconians can achieve many things through simple and greater works, that with their own passion for helping others can enflame the minds of the Youth of today to make their own contributions in the upliftment of the lives of other people.

On the other hand, Ms. Karen Davila shared her enriching experiences as a personality in media. Many of her documentaries (one of which garnered an award) are focused on the young people. She emphasized the importance of education to the young as well as the building and forming of their character. A member of World Vision, a foundation which supports the education of less fortunate children, Ms. Davila encouraged all of us to make the lives of other people especially the youth to become better.

Mr. Jay Taruc shared his experiences as a television host in his documentation of child laborers in GMA 7’s I-Witness. He challenged us to become wary and vigilant about the situations of the youth in our country. He said that it is not enough to just be aware of the situations of poor children and youth but we should think and act on ways to help them.

At the end of the day, everyone was filled with the light of information and all in attendance concluded that work and concrete action should now begin in forming better lives for the poor youth in our society.

(Article from: www.donboscomakati.edu.ph)

God is cool

this was an e-mail from my aunt before i went to Australia for World Youth Day…

and i’m still speechless…

mahirap ang buhay…

but i’m rich with God’s love.
anyway,
mainspire sana kayo… hehehe

here's the email of my Aunt;

Dondie,

Ok here’s, the story. The day you e-mail me about the trip to World Youth I was in Jerusalem. Anyway, when I came home few weeks later ( I think) you e-mailed me again about this trip and you are not sure if you are going to sign up because of money. I e-mailed you back and said just applied anyway if God’s plan for you to go you will. So that evening and the next morning, Saturday I spent time with God praying. I prayed before going to work. My prayer is about the money $2000.00 you asked for the trip. I said God give me sign since I don’t really feel like helping to send $2000.00 for your trip while our family in the Phil is having a toughed time with money, does not make sense to me at all. Here you are traveling spending this kind of money. Free money that you did not earned and work for, does not seem to be right. After all I m not rich and work very hard for every nickle I earned.
I went to work. That day a teller came to me with $1000.00 bill a customer is trying to deposit. This $1000.00 is out of circulation and a collector’s item. I called our back office department if I can accept it and was told to accept it as is $1000.00 So, after the customer left I called Ken and told him about this $1000.00 bill and see if it is worth more that $1000.00 to find out from any collectors store. He called me later and told me it’s worth $1000 to $2000 it depends on condition. The first thing that came to my mind was your trip to World Youth. I was excited! Did God give me a sign to help with your trip? So I withdraw $1000.00 and asked the teller I want the $1000.00 bill. When I came home from work I gave it to Ken and he examined it and took it to collector’s coins stores and see how much he can sold it for. I told Ken what I prayed for that this money if he sold it for more than $1000.00 will go towards your trip. Two weeks later after shopping several stores he sold it for the highest he can get and that is $900 more. So, my nephew Dondie - God provided $900.00 for your trip.!! I can send $600.00 that is a total of $1500.00 and the rest is yours to raised !! Let me know when you need the money and I will put it on the account. You can use the debit card to pay for your ticket. Praise GOD and thanks the LORD JESUS for his blessings. We praise and bless HIS name for all the days of our lives. Take care and God Bless you as GOD send you for HIS mission.

Aunt Ellen.

Get a Calendar for 2009

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt;
